The American Lung Association in Florida Asthma Educator Institute is a two-day workshop for individuals wanting to improve their ability to provide asthma education for patients and families with asthma. It is expected that many of these individuals will go on to take the certified asthma educator exam offered by NAECB and become certified asthma educators.

The curriculum covers the content outlined in the NAECB Candidate handbook and includes case reviews, hands-on skills demonstration and practice. The course is delivered by asthma experts and includes Certified Asthma Educators (AE-C). CEU’s provided for nurses and respiratory care personnel.

The overall course objectives are:
- To help prepare participants to pass the Asthma Educator Certification exam.
- To prepare participants to provide NHLBI and ANEPP guideline directed asthma care to patients, families and health care providers across all settings.
- To identify the various roles of the asthma educator.
- To network with healthcare providers/educators and organizations surrounding asthma care and asthma care policies.
Who: This workshop is designed for nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physicians, and other credentialed professionals that have experience working with patients with asthma.

Registration Fee: $250
Registration Deadline: May 10 Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Full payment must be received with your registration. Online Registration or Mail/Fax Registration is available.
Cancellation Policy: Registration fee refundable, less a $25 processing fee, prior to May 1, 2010. No refunds after May 10, 2010. Substitutions are permitted. Confirmations will emailed.
Attire: Please dress comfortably. Professional casual is welcome. Since conference rooms can vary in temperature, you may want to dress in layers.
