CBD and Respiratory Illnesses

Currently being examined in research studies across the globe, CBD has shown itself to be a useful treatment against various respiratory illnesses. Possessing numerous health benefits without the psychoactive effects, this chemical component of the Cannabis plant is gaining popularity amongst health professionals. CBD can be used in many different forms such as gummies, oil, liquid, tinctures, terpenes, and other easy to use formulas. Clinical trials have revealed a great deal about how patients can use CBD for asthma, bronchitis, COPD, and other respiratory disorders.

What Causes Respiratory Problems?

Respiratory problems can be caused by inflammation, infections, lack of exercise, obesity, and even anxiety; this list isn’t exhaustive but it covers a few main triggers outside of environmental irritants such as toxins and pollutants. Inflammation causes constricted airways, due to swollen bronchial tubes which in turn leads to asthma attacks. Anxiety can trigger difficulty breathing but it’s unfortunate because of the hyperventilation and rapid heart rate that one may experience during an anxiety attack just cause more anxiety. If you have an infection, it can cause mucus to build up in the airways as well as inflamed lungs; in this case, you’ll need something to treat the infection in order for symptoms to subside. Lack of exercise and obesity can be remedied by being more active, even if only for 30 minutes a day. In general, there are a number of things that can send us into respiratory distress, but what can help and provide instant relief? Better yet, what can keep these symptoms at bay?

CBD for Respiratory Distress

CBD is a known bronchodilator, which means that it relaxes and widens the airways, making breathing easier. Aside from this, it also has anxiolytic properties, meaning it reduces anxiety. These two factors alone make it a useful candidate for treating respiratory illnesses, in addition to antibacterial properties. Cannabidiol also possesses anti-inflammatory benefits, relieving chronic inflammation throughout the body and providing pain relief. This combination of constituents produces an effective treatment that can address constricted airways, inflamed lungs, bacterial infections, chest pain, anxiety, and rapid heart rate. Other symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and bad coughs can be remedied as well. This allows for most symptoms of various disorders to be alleviated. The CBD inhaler in particular deposits the compound directly into your lungs, and symptoms should subside fairly quickly. Due to the expansive nature of respiratory problems, more has to be done in order to spread the knowledge of how beneficial CBD can be for both children and adults. CBD has been used in many studies involving mice, and the results are promising.

Always be sure to do thorough research before adding CBD to your regimen. Though it has been declared as safe for consumption, there are varying recommended dosages depending on your specific needs.
